When you make the decision to install a timber look or timber product in your home, one of your first daunting trips to make is to a show room to settle on a product. And boy, there is variety! From different species, to different patterns, stains, grains you name it.
There are several differences between hybrid flooring and laminate but the main ones are Water Resistance, Durability, Cost/ Price.
With so many home owners, renovators & builders choosing to install a product throughout the entire home it makes sense that Hybrid Flooring is the first choice for installation into your wet areas (kitchen, bathroom, toilet & laundry) as it is 100% waterproof.
Hybrid is made of multiple layers of materials pressed together for an extremely hard wearing floor, it is finished with a UV coating to provide a hard-wearing surface with high impact resistance. However, this does not complete with the Aluminum Oxide wear layer that Laminate Flooring consists of. In the durability game, Laminate comes out on top.
Let’s address the big question on everybody’s lips- Price. With installation costs being the same, the prices really vary mostly in the preparation of the subfloor. Laminate flooring requires a much more level subfloor compared to a Hybrid Floor which has a little more give in its boards and can flex to adjust slightly. When renovating a house for investment or to rent Laminate Flooring would be the recommendation as it comes in with better pricing than the Hybrid.
